Indeed, while the adoption of EU strict environmental policies has brought some scholars to enthusiastically welcome the EU as a “normative actor” in the international
arena, others suggest a more pragmatic and context-based view. Among the latter, Falkner argues that crucial evolutions in the environmental field should be read and understood through the lens of economical political analysis.
